Park fun!

Now that I'm done with school for the summer, it's been fun to get together with friends and their kids to play. In my first two days at home we've met friends at a local park and at the botanical gardens. Let the summer fun begin!!

Zoo

We enjoyed a nice morning at the zoo last weekend with Gramps and Gramma. The monkeys were especially active for us and giraffes were fun to feed, as always. Owen didn't climb up my shoulder when I fed them and even reached in the cup to hold a piece of food out for them himself. The kids both enjoyed their new jungle gym/play area after our picnic lunch. There were more baby animals there this trip than any other time I can remember. We saw 2 baby giraffes, a baby zebra, and adorable baby monkey. 

It's hard to get a perspective in this picture, but this is one of the babies.

Baseball Game

We are lucky to have a minor league baseball team in town. We had never taken Willow to a game before, and we thought Gramps and Gramma would like it, so we enjoyed a nice evening at a game. It was a fireworks night, which Willow has never seen, so we humored the idea of letting her stay up for them, but with the game only half over at 8pm, we bailed on the idea. She did a great job of watching the game and may have even walked away understanding a bit more about how the game is played.

Bubbles and Sprinkler fun

We enjoyed some time playing outside this afternoon. You know it's (almost) summertime when the bubbles and sprinklers come out! Both kiddos had a great time!

Willow burned off a lot of energy chasing the bubbles.

That's a great defensive position. Maybe she'll make for a good basketball player some day!

 Owen has not had many experiences with bubbles yet, but was intrigued by them.

We bought this fun sprinkler attachment at the end of last summer but didn't get a chance to use it. Willow and Owen both loved it! Here's hoping it lasts us all summer!

She does like spraying water, but is not crazy about water in her eyes (especially in the bathtub!)

Gramma got in on the action too!

Strawberry Faire

We've made it a tradition to go to the Strawberry Faire each year. Aunt Kim can still manage to eat a corndog, hold her drink AND Willow at the same time!

The rain was coming down pretty good for the first 15 minutes, but thankfully it cleared up and ended up being a beautiful day to be outside! Willow and Owen both enjoyed strawberry shortcake:
