Children's Museum

We enjoyed spending the day with Nana, Kim, Hannah, and Hunter at a children's museum. We'd taken the kids there quite a few times but hadn't been there for a while since they're "aging out" of some of the activities but they all had a good time!

I enjoyed recreating a few pictures from when the kids were little! (July 2016)

Summer Fun - August edition

The kids have continued helping make a dinner each week and have really enjoyed it!

Owen cracking his first egg!

Willow has enjoyed baking too - even her first pie!

It was delicious!

Her friend Layla joined us for a $1 movie then came over to play. They enjoyed making cookies together too!

We met Kim and the kids at the Children's Museum downtown. We hadn't been for a long time! They had lots of fun using their imaginations!

There have been plenty of mid-afternoon naps this summer, which Alli and I have both enjoyed!

The kids and I headed to our favorite 4-story children's museum. I'm glad they're old enough to stick together and be safe! It's such a big place!

(The workers can turn on the "rain" for the city below. Clearly he was fascinated!)

Once they headed into the tubes/slides, there was no telling where they'd come out!!

One exhibit had you use a sticky note to draw a picture or write a word to represent you. Can you make out what I drew??

Here was Owen's:

Willow's playing soccer again this year and they've already had a few practices. Her coaches seem great and she's already learned a lot. She's happy to have a few friends on the team!

The gym where the kids took swimming lessons had previously had an ice skating rink. They recently renovated it and hosted an ice skating competition. Willow and I enjoyed watching for a bit.

Willow has become obsessed with anything related to Descendants. She'd watched the 1st and 2nd movies without us during her screen time then couldn't stop talking about the 3rd movie that was coming out. We all watched the 1st movie together but the following Friday night the 3rd movie was going to be on tv from 8-10pm. This is quite a bit past her summertime bedtime but she was really hoping to stay up to watch it live. I told her we could record it and watch the 2nd movie that Friday, then the 3rd one the next Friday but seemed like she couldn't hardly wait that long. Chris and I talked, then surprised her with watching the 2nd movie AND 3rd movie back-to-back so she could stay up and watch it. It's summertime anyways, right?? I think we made her LIFE!! Here was her reaction

Owen has finished his cursive packet!

Willow finished her puzzle!

Since grabbing a bike that our neighbor set out by the side of the road, I've been excited about the kids and I enjoying a bike ride together. Owen is great on his balance bike but currently has a mental block against pedals. Willow hasn't ridden hers much this summer but was interested in going on the Greenways (car free paths!!) with me. We've been 4 times now and she's done great each time!

There's an awesome ice cream place right on the Greenway. I wasn't sure how far it was from where I had in mind to start, so Owen and Chris dropped us off then met us for ice cream. It was just a short little ride so next time I'll make her go there and back! ;)

We were soooooo sad to find out that our neighbors were moving. Owen's really enjoyed having Jacob next door. They've played really well together for the past couple years. Thankfully they're not moving too far away so we hope to meet up to play still. He invited Owen to his birthday party at the pool and they had a great time. Owen made this sweet card for him (He loves Fortnite):

When you see an ad for this, how do you possibly turn it down? We didn't!!

They were finger-lickin' good!

Check out this crazy carrot from the garden!!

I became friends with a sweet woman named Linda who has a 10-yr old granddaughter who loves Harry Potter. We've gotten the girls together 3 times this summer and Owen did so well playing with them at our house, that he got invited to join the girls at Linda's pool!

Linda threw grapes into the pool for the kids to find ;)

I came out of the shower to find Alli tucked into our bed. There's only one person in the house that would do that....Owen

We met Willow's friend Kennedy at the pool for one last summer hurrah. They hadn't seen each other since their week-long camp together in June so they were excited to get together again!

It's hard to believe that I'll be setting my alarm for school tomorrow morning! Eeek!! I'm grateful to have had this time with the kiddos making memories!
