Bye bye paci??

Gramma and Gramps got into town on Monday night and Gramma helped put the kids to bed so Chris and Gramps could head to the grocery store. Gramma put Owen down, and after coming out of his room asked, "So how hard was it to take away his paci?" Chris looked at her confused, saying that we hadn't taken away his paci. We usually keep them on top of his bookshelf, but recently he's enjoyed setting them on top of his light-up tractor which is on top of the bookshelf too but Gramma didn't notice them (who would, really?) and laid him down without it. Surprisingly, to ALL of us, he happily went to sleep without it and woke up at his regular time!!! We decided that Gramma needed to put him down for naptime and bedtime the next few nights and it would be the new "normal" for him. He went down great without it Tuesday at naptime and bedtime, then today at naptime and bedtime too!! This may be the best accident ever!! He did take shorter naps Tuesday and today, and did wake up at 5am this morning, so we have given it to him to help him get back to sleep. BUT, the biggest challenge (falling asleep without it) seems to not be an obstacle so hopefully with time he'll sleep longer without needing it to help him settle back down to sleep. What a HUGE relief!!
