Willow - Softball

Willow moved up to the 10U league for softball this year and it was quite a bit different because the girls are used for pitchers. Softball pitching is just crazy to begin with but proved to be difficult to learn for girls in her league so not too many balls were hit off kid pitches (slowing the pace of the game). After 5 pitches, the coach would come in to pitch the last one or two. Willow really enjoyed playing catcher. Strangely enough she was allergic to the foam inside the catchers mask but we were able to find a mask for her to wear underneath to protect her skin. When she wasn't playing catcher, she was usually bored in the outfield ;)  She had a few good hits this season (here and here), of course her best one was when I was taking photos instead of video. 9 out of the 12 girls on her team had never played softball before so they had some big losses but they all learned a lot!

This field was about 50 minutes away and was called "Field of Dreams." My favorite part was when the cows in the outfield mooed!!

Willow had a large cheering section at many of her games!!

Softball

Willow had a great end to her softball season! She started to hit the ball harder in the second part of the season and made some really great plays in the field! She ended up with 12 stickers on her helmet (for getting across home)!

The photographer stuck around for their game and got some good action shots:

Mom got some action shots during the season too ;)

She caught a fly ball!!!

Out at 3rd base!!

Even her teacher, Ms. Washington, came to see one of her games!

Great season ladies!!!

Random Catching Up

We've done a "few" things besides play ball these days ;)

Owen and Chris made a cardboard helmet which Owen was over-the-moon excited about, especially spray painting it and the "battle" in the backyard when it was done.

The Caldwells get the kids each an awesome monthly kit that comes in the mail. Owen's latest one was on the human body. He made a stethescope (that works!!), x-ray, and sewn brain, heart, and stomach. They're so fun!

Willow has an art kit that comes and her latest one was this stained-glass project.

We had nice car washin' weather recently while Gramps and Gramma were in town. The kids helped get all the blossoms and seeds off the car then had a little fun in the water afterwards.

Some people dip the cloth in the water....and others dip their whole arm in the water...

I'm not sure "the force" is going to stop Owen from getting wet!

Alli had enjoyed the nice spring weather too!

MVP again!!

Willow has graduated out of all forms of car seats!!! Woohoo!! Owen will move to a booster after the summer. He still takes advantage of resting his head to the side for a quick nap during road trips.

Chris used a tree that a neighbor was discarding to change this typical mailbox post...

into this!!! AMAZING!!
