Beach

We enjoyed a 4-day stay with Nana and Grandpa at Virginia Beach for Spring Break! Being there brought back many fond memories of being there together in October 2012 and with friends for Spring Break 2011. The weather was nice so we were able to enjoy the zoo, aquarium, and petting farm. We spent a good bit of time at the beach playing in the sand and on the playground on the beach (yep...playground ON the beach) but we were usually in a light jacket and pants. The temperature was in the mid-60s but the wind was pretty gusty and chilly at the beach. Another one of our favorite places was the indoor pool at the hotel! Good times!!

The view from the 12th floor!

Zoomed in on Nana and Willow from the 12th floor:

The zoo had a lot of great animals. Like most zoos, though, they were mostly sleeping.

Otter Owen
The closest the kids will ever get to a goose:

Owen couldn't resist the train ride at the zoo. We had a near meltdown moment when it drove away from us on our way to purchase tickets.

All aboard!!!

Owen sweetly waved to every person/animal that we passed on the 12-min ride.

Good morning sun!

Books + beach background = perfect!

The aquarium was equally great! There was lots to see and touch. The harbor seals outside were fun to watch. Check them out here. We went to the IMAX 3D to see the "Under the Sea" movie, not realizing the rated-G movie would have so many startling predator vs. prey moments (completely freaking out both children!!). Both kids kept taking off their 3D glasses and turning around in our laps. Neither kid watched the last 15 minutes of the film and Owen even fell asleep on my shoulder (that NEVER happens!!). The adults enjoyed the movie though =)
Conked out!!

Oh yeah...and we got attacked by a shark:

Nothing beats a picnic in the back of the car!

We enjoyed the indoor pool at the hotel each day we were there. It had a section where Willow could stand, a step where Owen could jump into our arms (repeat...repeat...repeat...), a bubbly-Jacuzzi corner, and lots of fun fountains/waterfalls. It was a daily reminder that these kids need swimming lessons!!!

This child has NO FEAR of jumping into the pool! He often seems to jump AWAY from you! Check him out here.

Here's the fun playground ON the beach. Here's Owen in action. Don't be fooled though, this seemingly relaxed picture only lasted about as long as it took to take the picture.

We visited a petting farm and Owen was completely in his element! He loved touching the goats and sheep! He kept saying, "Hi buddy! Hi buddy!" in a high-pitched voice. It was adorable. Check him out here. He even did well feeding them from his hand! Here he is in action.

Dada accidentally let 3 goats into the "forbidden area" between the two fences....the very reason they have two fences though...

A fun hollow log:

Adorable lambs!

Of course Owen loved the tractor:

Willow too!

When we saw these toy excavators we knew Owen would LOVE them. When he sat down on it, he was too short to see what he was doing, but refused to stand up on it, so he ended up watching Willow take a couple turns on it. She loved it though!! Here she is in action.

We couldn't convince Willow to ride the pony when she was two, but Owen was a pretty easy sell. He did a great job of holding on and sitting still. Here's the prince in action. The horse's name was Cinderella. The other horse was named Willow!! We couldn't convince Willow to ride Willow though...

Cute little ducklings! They even look like they're smiling!

Here's our "2014" beach picture

Standing in the waves got a little out of control, leading to soaked pants, therefore the bottomless Owen in these pictures. Here they are on the slide Chris made for them.

Apparently I had too much fun on the beach taking pictures because the lens won't open anymore (sand maybe??). Boo =(  Maybe I'll get a new one for Mother's Day (wink wink).

Happy Easter!

The kids enjoyed searching high and low for Easter eggs this morning!

Thanks "Gramma and Gramps Easter Bunny"

It was hard to hold them back from the yummy treats inside!

Willow made out pretty well:

Owen held his own:

The best pic we could get of Owen before church:
