Bowling

We took advantage of a Groupon to get 2 hours of bowling. A family of friends of ours bought one too, so we enjoyed a rainy Saturday afternoon bowling with them, then went to dinner together too!

Superkids!

The kids had a great time playing superheroes on a warm Friday after school. It's great to see them play well together and use their imagination!

Kite Festival

We enjoyed the local Kite Festival last year for the first time and knew that we'd be back this year for sure. It was a much warmer day than last year (low 70s) but not quite as windy. Regardless, it was a great day for being outside and the festival was, again, a great event.

16 flags were flown in honor of the man who has been the announcer at the festival for the past 16 years who passed away this year. Beautiful.

The kids creating their own "wind:"

He had the most success standing still with this length of string out. I failed at getting a video but you can see the joy on his face. Love it.

It was hard to get pics of Willow because she was on the move running from one end of the field to the other practically the whole time. I think Nana will sleep well tonight!

They had us help unfurl the flag, like last year. It is beautiful and the kids love going under it!

A prompted hug this year, though unprompted last year.

You gotta love getting free shirts (x2), free umbrellas (x4), and free icecream (x3)!!

Lost Tooth #2

Both of Willow's front two teeth ended up having "shark teeth" (when the permanent tooth comes in behind the baby tooth). When she had her cavity filled this week the dentist pointed out that her gums are swollen in the back, meaning that her 6-yr molars are working their way up.

Here's the before:

and after:

It had been getting pretty loose but she hadn't been wiggling this one as much as the first so it hung in for a while. She was eating muffin for breakfast in the morning when it fell out. She woke up at 4:30 this morning crying and when I went in she said the tooth fairy hadn't came. I assured her (and myself) that it was still the middle of the night and that she might still be on her way. I then set my alarm to give her time to fall back asleep, yet I laid there for 45 mins and never fell asleep. (I later awoke at 7am to Owen screaming "I don't want you! I don't want you!" I went in to tell him that's not a nice thing to say then he told me that he had poo poo. I was so proud of him for telling me, since he usually doesn't, then I stepped in something squishy. I hadn't grabbed my glasses before going into his room but when I went to give him a hug I noticed he was bare bottomed....and his diaper was on the floor along with the BM [scattered on the carpet AND my foot]. I can just imagine him shaking his diaper out saying, "I don't want you! I don't want you!").

Spring Break

We had a great week at Busch Gardens for spring break! We miss when we lived 45 mins away and could spend a day throughout the summer there, whereas now it will be a bigger deal to drive 4 hours there. We got our money's worth out of our passes this week spending a few hours there each day of the week. The weather was a bit chillier than we were hoping but we got to watch all of the shows, ride as many rides as the kids wanted (not too many), ride on the Sky Ride and train, see the animals, and play in the play areas. A lot of the pictures make me flashback to taking the kids 2 years ago and 3 years ago.

Check them out in action.

We even got to meet up with the Murrays for a little bit on Thursday!

Friday was the warmest day of the week. We drove an extra 1 1/2 hours to the beach for the morning. The water was extra cold but it didn't deter Willow (until she lost her balance and fell in...thankfully Dad had grabbed an extra pair of pants for both kiddos!). Willow has loved the beach each of the times we've gone (just a handful) so we'll have to get her there sometime when the water's actually warm enough to go into! Check them out running away from the waves.

There's a Naval base near the beach so there were endless jets flying in while we were there. Owen thought these two were Echo and Bravo from "Planes." =)

Good luck gettin' the sand out from between those toes Buddy!

The water area was finally turned on at Busch Gardens Friday afternoon since it was warmer! What a great send-off!

And....Owen's done:

A couple afternoons we enjoyed the indoor pool at the resort we stayed at. Willow impressed us all with how well she applied what she's learned in her swimming lessons to enjoying the pool with us (after her lessons last summer she was always hesitant to do the same skills with us). Owen was all about jumping in and was even sure he could jump in by himself to the deep end like Willow. Check out Willow in action (the delay at the beginning is due to Owen putting his arms out like he was going to catch Willow...haha). And here's Owen jumping.
