Thanksgiving

Instead of the Drumstick Dash, we went to the Caldwells' for the "Gobble Wobble." They had multiple food stations set up along the 3.1 mile trail and you voted for your favorite at the end. We didn't have a bad one! In the end the banana pudding cups were our favorite.

There were yummy appetizers, the Macy's parade, playing in the basement, and lots of yummy food for dinner!

The boys each took a turkey leg and did pretty well cleaning it up!

Thanksgiving

It was a cold, misty Thanksgiving morning for the Drumstick Dash! Kim, Willow, and I jog-walked together, finishing in 37 minutes (I'm not sure I'd ran at all since the run 2 years ago....). Chad, Nana, and the other kids walked, while Grandpa waited in the car for the runners, and Chris tended the turkey in the oven. We gathered for lunch together with Gramps and Gramma at the house with napping, football, and the Macy's Thanksgiving parade. We have so much to be thankful for!

Of course Owen found a stick...

Thanksgiving

We participated in the Drumstick Dash again on Thanksgiving morning. We were all walkers this year :) Hannah and Hunter slept over Wednesday night because we'd just had family pictures taken. Willow enjoyed braiding Hannah's hair before they went to bed!

Just a few of our friends! ;)

There were some beautiful fall trees on the route!

We enjoyed having the family over to our house afterwards for a Thanksgiving meal. As always, there was plenty of food for all!

Thanksgiving

Warm days are great for chalking!! The kids and I tried this little fox.

Willow was a happy baker...trying different turkey treats for different gatherings!

We enjoyed doing the Drumstick Dash with family, then had Thanksgiving with both sides of the family at our house.

Kim convinced me to run again. Willow opted out this time ;)  I was happy to keep up with Kim, who often runs 20 miles on a given Saturday, considering I hadn't run since last Thanksgiving. I definitely felt different muscles in my legs the next few days!

It was good to see the kids enjoy the trampoline together. It hardly gets used these days.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We enjoyed doing the Drumstick Dash together again this year on Thanksgiving morning. Last year it was virtual and this year they had a different route due to a lack of police force available for the usual downtown location (a sad sign of the times). I liked the route better because it was flat!!! It was also an out-and-back which allowed Kim, Willow, and I to run, then go back to walk the end with everyone else.

I'm not sure if the kids marched in a line like this the whole time or not ;)

Everyone's a winner!

We came back to our house for Thanksgiving dinner and some relaxed time together. The kids enjoyed some time outside, playing the Wii, and playing Minecraft on the same server (a rare treat for them!).

Owen NEVER dances on the Wii. It was fun and worth documenting when he finally did!!

Nana made some Pinterest-inspired trays!

The whole gang!

Nana and Grandpa watched the kids for a couple nights so Chris and I could drive to Pennsylvania to move down two of Virginia's newest residents.....Gramps and Gramma! It was not an easy decision to leave the town you were both born and raised in, but we're so thankful to have them closer!

The roads got pretty slick the last hour on our drive up. We were thankful in one county that the plow had been by the side we were driving on!

They worked hard to downsize a house-worth of stuff that they'd lived at for 28 years!

One last picture in their house!

We were thankful for busy plows overnight but could've done without the extra Thanksgiving-weekend traffic that made it a 9-hour drive instead of 7.5 ;)

Time for a car wash!

Just enough room for Owen to fit!

When there are still boxes to unpack, you use those boxes to hold your pizza boxes!

Welcome to Virginia, Gramps and Gramma!

Thanksgiving

We were thankful to still be able to get together with family for Thanksgiving this year. The Drumstick Dash that we've done for YEARS ended up being a virtual run/walk, so we walked on a trail near Nana and Grandpa's house instead. The weather was gorgeous so we spent some time at the park too!

They enjoy when the adults push them on this!

The "highlights" version of the Macy's Thanksgiving parade wasn't quite the same but the kids enjoyed watching for a bit.
