Kim and Chad's community has fishing days where they stock the stream and allow people to come out to fish. The kids had caught 3 fish each the weekend before so we jumped on the invitation to go the next weekend. We don't have any fishing gear or know what to do really, so I thought it'd be a good experience for the kids. We enjoyed seeing the Caldwells since we hadn't seen them (besides Zoom) since celebrating Grandpa's birthday, March 21st!
Look at those beautiful clouds!!
We enjoyed a little hike through the woods while Chad grilled hot dogs for a picnic lunch!
Our "socially distanced" picnic in the garage:
It wasn't the "drop it in and catch one immediately" experience that Hannah and Hunter are used to. There'd been plenty of people fishing in the week between so it was more like true fishing. The kids did great for a while but then got discouraged. It probably didn't help that it was mid-afternoon by the time we went, and the heat of the day!! Willow headed back to the car and Owen had two blisters from his new crocs so he wasn't moving much. Kim and Chad were walking along the stream to try and spot any fish with their fancy glasses when Kim noticed a fishing rod moving (it was just sitting on the ground but in the water). So nobody really gets "credit" for catching the one fish for the day. Willow reeled it in and was absolutely disgusted by it all. She couldn't stop talking about it for a few days!!
