Apple Picking and Cascades Hike

We met Nana, Grandpa, and the Caldwells for apple picking. It doesn't quite feel like fall until we have! 

These were the prettiest color of apple that were off limits :(

The trees were packed! There was no need for an apple picker, except that the kids like to use them. The dwarf trees are great!

Kim and I took the kids on a hike to the Cascades and packed a picnic lunch. 

Owen couldn't resist the water, though it was NOT warm at all! He was the only one that got totally wet.

We planted a second apple tree last year and were excited to see blossoms again this year!

We met Nana and Grandpa to pick apples at our favorite orchard. There are always so many to choose from!

Apple Picking

We got in a trip to the local dwarf apple orchard during one of their peak weeks. The pickin' was easy!!

The picking stick wasn't even needed....but is fun!

Apple Picking

We enjoyed our annual apple picking on Labor Day weekend. We've already enjoyed apple muffins, apple cobbler, and apple bread as well as lots of apples for snacking. We're hoping our apple tree at home will be old enough to produce apples next year! Afterwards we headed to a park to walk around, then Nana and Grandpa took the cousins to their house for a sleepover! We took advantage of the opportunity for a double-date and ended up bowling (none of us are quitting our day jobs!!) and having Mexican for dinner!

Labor Day apple picking and hike

We've enjoyed making a little tradition out of apple picking and hiking to a waterfall on Labor Day weekend. We met the Caldwells, Nana, and Grandpa at the apple orchard and picked quickly thanks to the dwarf trees. The kids did enjoy using the picking claw on a stick, even though there were plenty we could reach. 

Teamwork!!

It was just the Seths for the hike this year and it might be the last time we do it on a holiday weekend. The local college kids come out in full force, which makes it crowded at the actual falls. We were a bit more concerned with COVID this year and so many college students without masks. We'll have to enjoy it on a summer day that's not too hot next time.

The water was a bit chilly so no one got in, but it's fun to touch and feel the force of the waterfall!

We call this the "kid corrale"...keeps the family together ;)
