This post is loooong over due (especially since I'm laughing at some of them I'd forgotten since writing them down!):
Owen (who has struggled with dinner for over a year now): What are we having for dinner?
Chris: Bowtie Chicken Pasta, peaches, and bruschetta.
Owen: What did you say before 'shetta?
Chris: Bru
Owen: I don't want bru!!!!
When putting on pajama shorts after having worn long pajamas for a long time:
Owen: I can't get my sleeves down.
Willow has been graduating herself to using our regular silverware rather than the kid ones. She often refers to the regular silverware as a "mommy spoon" or "mommy fork."
Willow: Do you want me to give Owen a "daddy fork" since he's a boy?
After Willow told me about a movie they watched at school:
Kristen: Did you watch that at recess?
Willow: No, in fact, we watched two.
As they dropped Willow off at school:
Owen: Have a great day Melonball!
Owen on the new porch swing:
Owen: This is a nice place to sit with an apple.
Owen: Is it play time after bath time?
Chris: No buddy, it's bed time after bath.
Owen: And then stories, songs, climb into bed, and go to sleep like a big boy?
Chris: Yes
We've been doing our best to teach the kids not to talk over each other, which is especially a struggle at the dinner table.
Owen: Can you stop talking now?
Owen (looking at the jet pack): This is sooooo coool! It has buttons and a light. And you can see people in it!
Chris: Yeah buddy, you can see your reflection in it.
Owen: Yeah! You can see my flection and your flection, and you can see Superman's flection (holding it up to his Lego Superhero book). This is so cool!
Chris (grunting while wrapping up the Christmas tree to put it back in the box)
Owen: What's wrong Daddy?
Kristen: The tree is giving Daddy a hard time.
Owen (to Chris): Did you think it was going to be easy?
Owen (avoiding me leaving his room at bedtime): I forgot to tell you sumping...
or
Let's pretend it's not bedtime.
Willow: When my hair falls over my eye like this, I feel like I'm in college.
Willow (before going to a sleepover at church): I want to see my friends' cycles (bedtime routines).
Owen (while I scratched his back): I like that behind me.
Owen (saying a bedtime prayer): "...and that my friends will talk nicely and have energy..."
Kristen (at bedtime): Who would you like me to pray for Buddy?
Owen: There are so many choices....
Owen (playing): ...and God said, "Go in peace."...
Owen: I can't turn off my human fire (humidifier).
Owen (when asked if he wanted to do "Just Dance" on the Wii): Is that where you move your move-its?
Owen: If 10=11, then what comes after 100?
Owen (trying to get a Lego off)
Gramma: That can be difficult Buddy!
Owen: No, it's ordinary.
Way back in July when Chris and I were going to return from our anniversary trip and Willow was helping Gramma get the "bubbles" out of the clean sheets on our bed:
Willow: I can't believe it's the day Mommy and Daddy come home! We survived the week! We survived the week with the vampires taking care of us! (They had read "Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots")
Chris: We eat peppermints and spearmints...what do you think ornaments taste like?
Willow: We don't eat spearmints...that's what scientists do (experiments).
Owen (listening to my music in the car): This isn't music, it's just noise.
Owen: I love my Antic-arctic Lego set (Antarctic).
When playing superheros:
Kristen: You should call Spiderman to come wrap up the bad guy.
Owen: But I don't have any spiderman dot com's on my phone!
Owen's two favorite responses lately: "No! Never!" or "Yeah, sure. Got it."
When Owen got to this picture in his Star Wars Lego set directions he said it meant "Don't throw balls at kids who are reading their Lego directions."
