Snow-blobs and more snow fun

We enjoyed another couple days off school with this snow storm (and 2 days with delays). Willow finished her art project that she'd started from the craft book from Great Aunt Linda. Thank you!!

The snow still wasn't great for packing, so we went with snow "blobs" instead. A friend had shared an idea of using a squirt bottle with food colored water in it, so we gave that a try for their faces.

Nothing beats seeing a snowplow AND having a hill to sled down at the same time!!

The difference between a front yard where kids live and a front yard where only adults live:

I try to be patient with this mess on the floor during snow storms because I know I'll miss it terribly some day!!

We made it out sledding again on Monday. Videos to come!

We got an awesome recipe for homemade cinnamon rolls from Morgan. We all give it two thumbs up!

Sledding Fun!

We found the best place to sled last year, at an area elementary school. We met some friends there today and enjoyed a couple hours of sledding! Chris had waxed the bottom of the sleds, so we got an extra-fast ride! Despite a few crashes at the end of the hill, we all walked away with no injuries to report but a good exercised heart from all those times walking up the hill!

Ready for launch!

Alli must be getting a little cabin fever! She didn't make it far in the leg-deep snow though!

Snow Day!

We've been waiting with anticipation to find out how much snow we would get out of the big storm they've been talking about all week. There was no way we were having school on Friday with up to 24" predicted between Friday and Saturday's snowfall. We went out to measure quite a few times (Owen played along for a while):

Saturday morning's measurement: 11"

Closer to 12" in the grass:

Even crazy Alli cat has braved the snow a few times but doesn't stray too far.

The kids are good about watching for her to return and letting her in right away:

Ready!!

The kids have enjoyed being in the snow too. We've gone out once each morning and once each afternoon. The snow has been super powdery so it hasn't made for good sledding or snowmen-making. Maybe tomorrow.

Willow played around with her robot kit that she got for Christmas. She built a rabbit and enjoyed using the remote to make it go. (Video trapped on my phone).

Owen got his second try at "mouse practice" in on Starfall. Will he even need to know how to use a mouse anymore??

Clearly we didn't get the Christmas decorations down before the snow. Eh....what's another week when it's already late January?

We didn't see our first plow come by until today at 3:00, which is pretty late compared to how frequently we saw them with last year's similar storm. Maybe the city counselperson on our street moved??

The plow going by did make for a few "free" snowballs though:

Sandbox?

The picture above (from today) reminds me of a storm two years ago (below) when Owen started crying because the snow was too deep for him to walk through. No fussing today about it, but...hey wait...he's in the same jacket???

Creating an art project from her idea book from Great Aunt Linda! Thanks!

We're predicting a few days off school this week too!

We're hoping for some sledding fun tomorrow!
