Happy 7th Birthday Willow!

Willow decided on a fairy theme for her birthday party this year. She's loved Tinkerbell books and movies as well as Rainbow Magic Fairy books. As always, Pinterest gave me plenty of fun ideas for her party!

Willow was able to open a few gifts from family before her party. It really makes you realize how old she is when she can read her own birthday cards!!

She was beyond thrilled about a puppy Gramps and Gramma got her:

Hunter was pretty entertained by plenty of toys he could put in his mouth in the meantime:

Thanks to Nana for her help with the headpieces and tutus for the girls!

The girls had fun following the scavenger hunt around the house to find the parts of their fairy outfits:

The girls decorated a fairy house, then added flowers to make a fairy garden. I love how different each of them turned out!

Not much action happening in the "boy room:"

What a fun group of fairies!

Hannah participated too :)

Despite the constant mist all morning, some girls still enjoyed the trampoline and tree house:

Owen had been waiting and waiting to enjoy one of these cups!!

Don't tell him he's eating a green vegetable!!

Who said dressing up as fairies is only for girls??

Willow is a smart young lady who loves to read. She gets to stay up until 8:30 on weekend nights to read (as opposed to 8:00) and she loves it. On weekend mornings she'll wake up and read for a while too, so we never really know when she first wakes up. Some of her favorite books are the Puppy Place series, Mermaid Tales series, Never Girls series, and Rainbow Fairy series. She typically has 4-5 books on her nightstand. Through her school she can follow along and listen to books online (MyON.com) and she'll often ask to do that while dinner is getting ready or cleaned up.  She's loved beginning to read Andrew Peterson's Wingfeather Saga series with Chris. She ended the year on a 4th grade reading level, thanks to her love for reading!

Willow is a pretty good eater - or else she's just learned the dinner expectations =) Her favorites include tacos, alfredo and pesto with pasta, pizza, chicken, and meatballs. She's not a big fan of soups/stews. Her requests for her packed school lunches are either peanut butter sandwiches (no jelly) or sliced ham and cheese (no bread).

Willow has had a great year in school. She does a great job of listening to her teacher and only had one day all school year where she didn't earn her sticker for the day. She seems to get along with her classmates well but speaks of playing with Elena, Sydney, and Grace most often. I haven't heard any mention of arguments with friends nor any hurt feelings - Amen!! Willow has quite an imagination and uses her extra time in school to create mini masterpieces out of extra worksheets. We've especially enjoyed seeing Willow's illustrated writing this year. She's quite an artist! Willow has done a great job with swimming and gymnastics this year, as well as participating in the Wednesday night music time at church, followed by GAs (Girls in Action). During her free time at home you can usually find her on the trampoline or playing with Legos or Barbies. She has a great imagination!

Willow and Owen are typical brother and sister. They have great moments of enjoying playing together (their best moments are usually when they're playing rough in the trampoline) but also know how to push each others' buttons. Willow is working on her patience with Owen and not "snapping" in anger at him (He's working on not hitting her when he's frustrated!!). She's also working on picking her battles with him and deciding what is worth arguing about (since he's in a stage where he'll argue about ANYthing!).

Willow loves to come to school performances with me and we still enjoy going to the performances of a local ballet group that she used to dance with. She's also enjoyed the local children's theater performances this year: Fancy Nancy, Little House Christmas, Shrek, and Rapunzel. Willow loves to learn and is often asking questions about words from books she's reading or more about topics she's read or heard about. She gets an hour of iPad time on weekends and a little bit of time after school. She usually does a video or game from PBS kids with "Odd Squad" being her favorite lately.

We had her 7-yr well visit in June and here were her stats:
Weight: 54 lb (64%ile)
Height: 50" (79%ile)
BMI: 15 (42%ile)

We love you so much Willow Libby!!
