Yurt Adventures

One of the local parks has a few fun camping options that we haven't visited for a while. We did enjoy the little cabin rental a few years back but the kids are too big to share the bed (nicely) in that any more. We hadn't ever stayed in a yurt so we decided to check it out! It was a lot of fun! It didn't have heat, so we brought a space heater but then saw that those weren't allowed. Thankfully the warm day on Friday kept it toasty in there overnight. It went south for us when we opened the windows to get a nice cross-breeze through the yurt during the day was it was nice (70) but then it really cooled off that night and we were pretty chilly. Chris got the heater plugged in that morning as we packed up but wishes he'd have gone against my rule-followingness and kept it on overnight. :) 

We thought the triple bunk bed was a great use of space!! We even had a bathroom with toilet and sink, a microwave, small refrigerator, and a table to play games at! The skylight was fun and we had flaps over two windows that could be rolled up to let more light in. 

I'd recently had "walking tacos" for the first time at a parent event at school. Essentially you put your taco meat and toppings directly into a small Doritos bag, then crunch it up and eat it out of the bag with a fork. We tried it out and decided it's a great, EASY camping meal! We ate at the table but the kids posed for this "walking taco" picture for me :)

We ventured out exploring before and after lunch :)

This spot was marked as having a great view. Um....I think the trees have grown a bit since the sign was placed ;)

Do you think this stick is big enough??

The kids enjoyed throwing sticks and rocks in the water to try and break up this pile of leaves.

If you look closely in the upper right corner of this picture you'll see the one who encouraged the children to walk out on this fallen tree over the water. Thankfully they all made it back with dry clothes!

 It was a fun weekend getaway-not-so-far-away that I think we'd all enjoy again!
