Owen: Soccer

 We were excited when Owen said he wanted to try soccer for the first time this year. He'd enjoyed playing goalie in the backyard a lot, so we were sure to explain that 8U teams don't even have a goalie. He did a great job listening to his coach throughout the season and made some good friends. He's more of a natural defender, so he was always quick to want to guard the goal and wasn't too aggressive on offense. Their team switched between offense and defense regularly throughout the games and they split the team and played on two fields, so he got a lot of playing time at all positions. You can check out his season's highlight video here, though the biggest highlight of his season was only witnessed by Grandpa. On his last game (while everyone else was watching Willow's school music performance) he scored his first and only goal of the season!!! Go figure it was the only game that neither of us were there recording!! Stinker!!
