Willow had a great soccer season! She enjoyed being on a team with a lot of girls from school and was coached by her friend Bella's dad (Joey). Last year she played defensive positions all season, which she really enjoyed but I had hoped she would get to experience offense more. This year she played offense all season! I'm not sure of the official name of her position but she called it "far left side." She got quite a bit of action during the games and really had us on the edge of our seats here and here, thinking she was going to score!! Halfway through the season she still hadn't gotten a goal but had been sooooo close that Chris said she'd get BACON if she scored. The idea really excited her and she even asked to go down to the field to practice on some days they didn't have practice (a level of effort/interest we don't usually see with sports!) but unfortunately she never got a goal. We were more proud of her effort though!
There were times that she showed us how fast she can be when she tries!!
And we saw a bit of "fire" in her eyes at times, which was great!
One night had an AMAZING sunset during the game!!
No filter!!
She was lucky to have both sets of grandparents see many of her games. We enjoyed a pizza lunch after her first game.
I got this text from one of her coaches after her best game. In the highlight video you'll see a lot of clips from a game against a team with yellow jerseys (also the night of the great sunset!).
Playing under the lights!
Check out her highlight video!
Meanwhile, Owen occupied himself at the stream during her home games, often with a brother and sister of girls on Willow's team.
