These two lovebirds celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 1st!

Due to Corona, they didn't feel comfortable having the celebration they deserved, so the celebration looked more like this (aka pictures at church):
Due to a variety of reasons (new teacher training on Thurs/Fri, having had a surprise cake to celebrate them at the 4th of July, school starting back, etc.) we hadn't had plans to be up in PA for their actual anniversary. When a friend from their church contacted me about doing an anniversary car parade, I responded that we wouldn't be able to be there but were thankful for her coordinating it and would happily spread the word to family. Seconds later, though, we couldn't imagine NOT being there and started brainstorming how we could make it work. The only way to do it was to drive up on their actual anniversary, so we asked her to hold it off until 4:00. We made it into town with 45 mins to spare and time to decorate the car a bit (but in the rain).
We were the last car in the parade and, needless to say, they were NOT expecting it at all! Check out their reaction here and here (longer version here and here).
Anniversary picnic in the living room!

Their sweet friends had bought them a little two-person cake....which they insisted that we cut into a 6-person cake. Here they are looking like newly weds!
Willow and Owen drew these pictures of the 4 of them, then Nana helped Willow sew it into a pillow!
We were only in PA for a day and a half, but we enjoyed spending the day at Sara and Murph's campground. We hadn't been able to enjoy the pool because it was too crowded on the 4th of July but we had it mostly to ourselves this time!
