Hiking

Willow went on her first outing with the high school youth group (eek!!), which was a hike on a section of the Appalachian Trail. Since she was hiking, the rest of us took the opportunity to go on our own hike (she wouldn't let us go with her even though we promised to walk separately).

Owen always finds a stick! This one looks a bit too long to be functional!

It cracks me up when Owen requests his picture taken in different poses lately.

We decided that Owen probably had only been down this rock water slide on Chris' lap (we'll have to consult the blog on that...) but he wore his swim suit to be able to enjoy the water. Even in June, the water was pretty chilly!! After the first time down, he got used to it and enjoyed riding down multiple times!

This audio on Instagram was perfect!!

There are 3 sections of the AT that make up the "Triple Crown." Chris and I did one part last summer while the kids were at camp/mission trip. Since Willow did this section on her own, we decided that Owen has to do the 3rd section, then as a family we'd have done the Triple Crown ;)  Willow said there were so many stairs on her hike that she'd never do that again. We'll give it some time and I'm sure we'll do it together sometime soon. I was really impressed with her though! They started with a group of about 12-15 and only 6 of them made it to the top! It was a 7-mile hike with lots of elevation gain. Thankfully she took a couple of pictures for us!
